Al-Jinn - الجن (Surah 72)
28 Verses • Meccan Revelation
قُلْ أُوحِيَ إِلَيَّ أَنَّهُ اسْتَمَعَ نَفَرٌ مِّنَ الْجِنِّ فَقَالُوا إِنَّا سَمِعْنَا قُرْآنًا عَجَبًا
English Translation:
Say (O Muhammad SAW): "It has been revealed to me that a group (from three to ten in number) of jinns listened (to this Quran). They said: 'Verily! We have heard a wonderful Recital (this Quran)!
اردو ترجمہ:
(اے محمد صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) آپ کہہ دیں کہ مجھے وحی کی گئی ہے کہ جنوں کی ایک جماعت نے (قرآن) سنا اور کہا کہ ہم نے عجیب قرآن سنا ہے.
يَهْدِي إِلَى الرُّشْدِ فَآمَنَّا بِهِ ۖ وَلَن نُّشْرِكَ بِرَبِّنَا أَحَدًا
English Translation:
'It guides to the Right Path, and we have believed therein, and we shall never join (in worship) anything with our Lord (Allah).
اردو ترجمہ:
جو راه راست کے طرف رہنمائی کرتا ہے ۔ ہم اس پر ایمان لا چکے (اب) ہم ہرگز کسی کو بھی اپنے رب کا شریک نہ بنائیں گے.
وَأَنَّهُ تَعَالَىٰ جَدُّ رَبِّنَا مَا اتَّخَذَ صَاحِبَةً وَلَا وَلَدًا
English Translation:
'And exalted be the Majesty of our Lord, He has taken neither a wife, nor a son (or offspring or children).
اردو ترجمہ:
اور بیشک ہمارے رب کی شان بڑی بلند ہے نہ اس نے کسی کو (اپنی) بیوی بنایا ہے نہ بیٹا.
وَأَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ سَفِيهُنَا عَلَى اللَّهِ شَطَطًا
English Translation:
'And that the foolish among us [i.e. Iblis (Satan) or the polytheists amongst the jinns] used to utter against Allah that which was wrong and not right.
اردو ترجمہ:
اور یہ کہ ہم میں سے بیوقوف [یعنی ابلیس] اللہ کے بارے میں خلاف حق باتیں کہا کرتا تھا.
وَأَنَّا ظَنَنَّا أَن لَّن تَقُولَ الْإِنسُ وَالْجِنُّ عَلَى اللَّهِ كَذِبًا
English Translation:
'And verily, we thought that men and jinns would not utter a lie against Allah.
اردو ترجمہ:
اور ہم تو یہی سمجھتے رہے کہ ناممکن ہے کہ انسانوں اور جنات اللہ پر جھوٹی باتیں لگائیں.
وَأَنَّهُ كَانَ رِجَالٌ مِّنَ الْإِنسِ يَعُوذُونَ بِرِجَالٍ مِّنَ الْجِنِّ فَزَادُوهُمْ رَهَقًا
English Translation:
'And verily, there were men among mankind who took shelter with the masculine among the jinns, but they (jinns) increased them (mankind) in sin and disbelief.
اردو ترجمہ:
بات یہ ہے کہ چند انسان بعض جنات سے پناه طلب کیا کرتے تھے جس سے جنات اپنی سرکشی میں اور بڑھ گئے.
وَأَنَّهُمْ ظَنُّوا كَمَا ظَنَنتُمْ أَن لَّن يَبْعَثَ اللَّهُ أَحَدًا
English Translation:
'And they thought as you thought, that Allah will not send any Messenger (to mankind or jinns).
اردو ترجمہ:
اور (انسانوں) نے بھی تم جنوں کی طرح گمان کر لیا تھا کہ اللہ کسی کو نہ بھیجے گا (یا کسی کو دوباره زنده نہ کرے گا).
وَأَنَّا لَمَسْنَا السَّمَاءَ فَوَجَدْنَاهَا مُلِئَتْ حَرَسًا شَدِيدًا وَشُهُبًا
English Translation:
'And we have sought to reach the heaven; but found it filled with stern guards and flaming fires.
اردو ترجمہ:
اور ہم نے آسمان کو ٹٹول کر دیکھا تو اسے سخت چوکیداروں اور سخت شعلوں سے پر پایا.
وَأَنَّا كُنَّا نَقْعُدُ مِنْهَا مَقَاعِدَ لِلسَّمْعِ ۖ فَمَن يَسْتَمِعِ الْآنَ يَجِدْ لَهُ شِهَابًا رَّصَدًا
English Translation:
'And verily, we used to sit there in stations, to (steal) a hearing, but any who listens now will find a flaming fire watching him in ambush.
اردو ترجمہ:
اس سے پہلے ہم باتیں سننے کے لیے آسمان میں جگہ جگہ بیٹھ جایا کرتے تھے ۔ اب جو بھی کان لگاتا ہے وه ایک شعلے کو اپنی تاک میں پاتا ہے.
وَأَنَّا لَا نَدْرِي أَشَرٌّ أُرِيدَ بِمَن فِي الْأَرْضِ أَمْ أَرَادَ بِهِمْ رَبُّهُمْ رَشَدًا
English Translation:
'And we know not whether evil is intended for those on earth, or whether their Lord intends for them a Right Path.
اردو ترجمہ:
ہم نہیں جانتے کہ زمین والوں کے ساتھ کسی برائی کا اراده کیا گیا ہے یا ان کے رب کا اراده ان کے ساتھ بھلائی کا ہے.
وَأَنَّا مِنَّا الصَّالِحُونَ وَمِنَّا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ ۖ كُنَّا طَرَائِقَ قِدَدًا
English Translation:
'There are among us some that are righteous, and some the contrary; we are groups each having a different way (religious sect, etc.).
اردو ترجمہ:
اور یہ کہ (بیشک) بعض تو ہم میں نیکو کار ہیں اور بعض اس کے برعکس بھی ہیں، ہم مختلف طریقوں سے بٹے ہوئے ہیں.
وَأَنَّا ظَنَنَّا أَن لَّن نُّعْجِزَ اللَّهَ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَن نُّعْجِزَهُ هَرَبًا
English Translation:
'And we think that we cannot escape (from the punishment of) Allah in the earth, nor can we escape (from the punishment) by flight.
اردو ترجمہ:
اور ہم نے سمجھ لیا کہ ہم اللہ تعالیٰ کو زمین میں ہرگز عاجز نہیں کرسکتے اور نہ ہم بھاگ کر اسے ہرا سکتے ہیں.
وَأَنَّا لَمَّا سَمِعْنَا الْهُدَىٰ آمَنَّا بِهِ ۖ فَمَن يُؤْمِن بِرَبِّهِ فَلَا يَخَافُ بَخْسًا وَلَا رَهَقًا
English Translation:
'And indeed when we heard the Guidance (this Quran), we believed therein (Islamic Monotheism), and whosoever believes in his Lord shall have no fear, either of a decrease in the reward of his good deeds or an increase in punishment for his sins.
اردو ترجمہ:
ہم تو ہدایت کی بات سنتے ہی اس پر ایمان لائے چکے اور جو بھی اپنے رب پر ایمان لائے گا اسے نہ کسی نقصان کا اندیشہ ہے نہ ظلم وستم کا.
وَأَنَّا مِنَّا الْمُسْلِمُونَ وَمِنَّا الْقَاسِطُونَ ۖ فَمَنْ أَسْلَمَ فَأُولَـٰئِكَ تَحَرَّوْا رَشَدًا
English Translation:
'And of us some are Muslims (who have submitted to Allah, after listening to this Quran), and of us some are Al-Qasitun (disbelievers those who have deviated from the Right Path)'. And whosoever has embraced Islam (i.e. has become a Muslim by submitting to Allah), then such have sought the Right Path."
اردو ترجمہ:
ہاں ہم میں بعض تو مسلمان ہیں اور بعض بےانصاف ہیں پس جو فرماں بردار ہوگئے انہوں نے تو راه راست کا قصد کیا.
وَأَمَّا الْقَاسِطُونَ فَكَانُوا لِجَهَنَّمَ حَطَبًا
English Translation:
And as for the Qasitun (disbelievers who deviated from the Right Path), they shall be firewood for Hell,
اردو ترجمہ:
اور جو ظالم ہیں وه جہنم کا ایندھن بن گئے.
وَأَن لَّوِ اسْتَقَامُوا عَلَى الطَّرِيقَةِ لَأَسْقَيْنَاهُم مَّاءً غَدَقًا
English Translation:
If they (non-Muslims) had believed in Allah, and went on the Right Way (i.e. Islam) We should surely have bestowed on them water (rain) in abundance.
اردو ترجمہ:
اور (اے نبی یہ بھی کہہ دو) کہ اگر لوگ راه راست پر سیدھے رہتے تو یقیناً ہم انہیں بہت وافر پانی پلاتے.
لِّنَفْتِنَهُمْ فِيهِ ۚ وَمَن يُعْرِضْ عَن ذِكْرِ رَبِّهِ يَسْلُكْهُ عَذَابًا صَعَدًا
English Translation:
That We might try them thereby. And whosoever turns away from the Reminder of his Lord (i.e. this Quran, and practice not its laws and orders), He will cause him to enter in a severe torment (i.e. Hell).
اردو ترجمہ:
تاکہ ہم اس میں انہیں آزمالیں ، اور جو شخص اپنے پروردگار کے ذکر سے منھ پھیر لے گا تو اللہ تعالیٰ اسے سخت عذاب میں مبتلا کردے گا.
وَأَنَّ الْمَسَاجِدَ لِلَّهِ فَلَا تَدْعُوا مَعَ اللَّهِ أَحَدًا
English Translation:
And the mosques are for Allah (Alone), so invoke not anyone along with Allah.
اردو ترجمہ:
اور یہ کہ مسجدیں صرف اللہ ہی کے لئے خاص ہیں پس اللہ تعالیٰ کے ساتھ کسی اور کو نہ پکارو.
وَأَنَّهُ لَمَّا قَامَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ يَدْعُوهُ كَادُوا يَكُونُونَ عَلَيْهِ لِبَدًا
English Translation:
(It has been revealed to me that) When the slave of Allah (Muhammad SAW) stood up invoking (his Lord Allah) in prayer to Him they (the jinns) just made round him a dense crowd as if sticking one over the other (in order to listen to the Prophet's recitation).
اردو ترجمہ:
اور جب اللہ کا بنده اس کی عبادت کے لیے کھڑا ہوا تو قریب تھا کہ وه بھیڑ کی بھیڑ بن کر اس پر پل پڑیں.
قُلْ إِنَّمَا أَدْعُو رَبِّي وَلَا أُشْرِكُ بِهِ أَحَدًا
English Translation:
Say (O Muhammad SAW): "I invoke only my Lord (Allah Alone), and I associate none as partners along with Him."
اردو ترجمہ:
آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ میں تو صرف اپنے رب ہی کو پکارتا ہوں اور اس کے ساتھ کسی کو شریک نہیں کرتا.
قُلْ إِنِّي لَا أَمْلِكُ لَكُمْ ضَرًّا وَلَا رَشَدًا
English Translation:
Say: "It is not in my power to cause you harm, or to bring you to the Right Path."
اردو ترجمہ:
کہہ دیجئے کہ مجھے تمہارے کسی نقصان نفع کا اختیار نہیں.
قُلْ إِنِّي لَن يُجِيرَنِي مِنَ اللَّهِ أَحَدٌ وَلَنْ أَجِدَ مِن دُونِهِ مُلْتَحَدًا
English Translation:
Say (O Muhammad SAW): "None can protect me from Allah's punishment (if I were to disobey Him), nor should I find refuge except in Him.
اردو ترجمہ:
کہہ دیجئے کہ مجھے ہرگز کوئی اللہ سے بچا نہیں سکتا اور میں ہرگز اس کے سوا کوئی جائے پناه بھی پا نہیں سکتا.
إِلَّا بَلَاغًا مِّنَ اللَّهِ وَرِسَالَاتِهِ ۚ وَمَن يَعْصِ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ فَإِنَّ لَهُ نَارَ جَهَنَّمَ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا أَبَدًا
English Translation:
"(Mine is) but conveyance (of the truth) from Allah and His Messages (of Islamic Monotheism), and whosoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger, then verily, for him is the Fire of Hell, he shall dwell therein forever."
اردو ترجمہ:
البتہ (میرا کام) اللہ کی بات اور اس کے پیغامات (لوگوں کو) پہنچا دینا ہے ، (اب) جو بھی اللہ اور اس کے رسول کی نہ مانے گا اس کے لیے جہنم کی آگ ہے جس میں ایسے لوگ ہمیشہ رہیں گے.
حَتَّىٰ إِذَا رَأَوْا مَا يُوعَدُونَ فَسَيَعْلَمُونَ مَنْ أَضْعَفُ نَاصِرًا وَأَقَلُّ عَدَدًا
English Translation:
Till, when they see that which they are promised, then they will know who it is that is weaker concerning helpers and less important concerning numbers.
اردو ترجمہ:
(ان کی آنکھ نہ کھلے گی) یہاں تک کہ اسے دیکھ لیں جس کا ان کو وعده دیا جاتا ہے پس عنقریب جان لیں گے کہ کس کا مددگار کمزور اور کس کی جماعت کم ہے.
قُلْ إِنْ أَدْرِي أَقَرِيبٌ مَّا تُوعَدُونَ أَمْ يَجْعَلُ لَهُ رَبِّي أَمَدًا
English Translation:
Say (O Muhammad SAW): "I know not whether (the punishment) which you are promised is near or whether my Lord will appoint for it a distant term.
اردو ترجمہ:
کہہ دیجئے کہ مجھے معلوم نہیں کہ جس کا وعده تم سے کیا جاتا ہے وه قریب ہے یا میرا رب اس کے لیے دور کی مدت مقرر کرے گا.
عَالِمُ الْغَيْبِ فَلَا يُظْهِرُ عَلَىٰ غَيْبِهِ أَحَدًا
English Translation:
"(He Alone) the All-Knower of the Gha'ib (unseen), and He reveals to none His Gha'ib (unseen)."
اردو ترجمہ:
وه غیب کا جاننے والا ہے اور اپنے غیب پر کسی کو مطلع نہیں کرتا.
إِلَّا مَنِ ارْتَضَىٰ مِن رَّسُولٍ فَإِنَّهُ يَسْلُكُ مِن بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ وَمِنْ خَلْفِهِ رَصَدًا
English Translation:
Except to a Messenger (from mankind) whom He has chosen (He informs him of unseen as much as He likes), and then He makes a band of watching guards (angels) to march before him and behind him.
اردو ترجمہ:
سوائے اس پیغمبر کے جسے وه پسند کرلے لیکن اس کے بھی آگے پیچھے پہرے دار مقرر کردیتا ہے.
لِّيَعْلَمَ أَن قَدْ أَبْلَغُوا رِسَالَاتِ رَبِّهِمْ وَأَحَاطَ بِمَا لَدَيْهِمْ وَأَحْصَىٰ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ عَدَدًا
English Translation:
[He (Allah) protects them (the Messengers)], till He sees that they (the Messengers) have conveyed the Messages of their Lord (Allah). And He (Allah) surrounds all that which is with them, and He (Allah) keeps count of all things (i.e. He knows the exact number of everything).
اردو ترجمہ:
تاکہ ان کے اپنے رب کے پیغام پہنچا دینے کا علم ہو جائے اللہ تعالیٰ نے ان کے آس پاس (کی تمام چیزوں) کا احاطہ کر رکھا ہے اور ہر چیز کی گنتی شمار کر رکھا ہے.
